This was the first condominium project in Grenada and Leonardo was instrumental in developing the “Condo Act” in Grenada which is loosely modeled after the Canadian Condo Act; the Act essentially mandates what a condo is, the number of apartments, each with their own water electric supply and ‘The Rules’ that are attached to condo living. It was time well spent even though it represented for Zucchi, a substantial financial investment at that time. Adjacent to what is now “Mahogany Run” The Zucchi’s then decided to convert the original Mariposa Beach Resort into a set of deluxe condominiums. They consulted with Architect Stefano Cannava’ of MPPM Architectural practice in Rome and local Engineer Mr. Carlyle Glean for the new Mariposa slated for completion in June 2013. The project consists of 14 unique condominiums each ingeniously engineered to feel like a part of a quaint Italian village, all units are enhanced with larger than normal private verandas and expansive views of beautiful Morne Rouge Bay. These elegant apartments range in sizes from 1,0003,000 sq ft, the floor plans are not the same shapes, nor sizes and because of this clever design a few key things happen; it maximizes the bay breezes throughout the entire development and because of the angles of entrances you don’t see or hear your neighbors. Extremely thick concrete walls make the property cool, safe in bad weather and soundproof, add very high ceilings and this layout reaches it’s potential in maximizing privacy inside and out. Prices will start at $300,000 going up to $700,000US. Owners have the choice of decorating themselves or going with a modern Italian look which is ‘Zucchi Style’. was a single storey building called ‘Beverly Flats’. “Looking for the owner, it turned out to be the property of Maurice Bishop’s mother and his sister. They told me that they would not be willing to sell to anybody that was attached to the Revolution. So I said I would like to do something nice by you, sell me the property you will be proud I promise you ! We bought it and opened in 1997 the original “Mariposa Beach Resort.” We invited Bishop’s Mother and sister to see if I delivered, ...she was very happy, so this is a very historical place because this was Maurice Bishop’s seaside residence. In the foundation there is a little part of what was his bedroom that I left.”
