Q portrait by Tony McQuilkin...Mike & Julie Quinn stand behind a wall of glass at Beacon Insurance building one of their recent constructions uality, efficiency, dependability and professionalism, these are just some of the words that have become synonymous with Quinn Company Limited (QuinnCo), one of the island’s premiere construction firms, since it started operation in Grenada in 1994. On reflection, it is clear that the company’s founders, Mike & Julie Quinn started the business at an opportune time. It was their initial intent to make construction methods of International Standards more widely available and thereby contribute to the development of Grenada. Since then, they have let their reputation for professionalism in the combined areas of general construction, engineering design and project management speak for itself. The added dimension of placing a great degree of emphasis on teamwork, technological advancement and consistently meeting standards above what was the norm at that time set the company apart. QuinnCo has grown steadily over the years and its success can be attributed to a number of factors One such factor is the professional qualifications of both Mike Quinn, a USA licensed Civil Engineer and Julie Quinn who holds a degree in Agriculture along with a background in interior space planning, and interior and landscape design. Their skills have not only complemented each other, but their combined experience of working for Louis Berger International in Korea on American military projects and in Grenada on projects for the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) has proved to be a valuable asset over the years. Their unique perspective has allowed them to understand, anticipate and at times surpass the expectations of their constantly growing list of satisfied clients. Despite starting small with only a handful of employees, the company maintained its focus, aiming to get the job done right the first time and its goals of keeping up-to-date with the latest technological advances in the international construction industry. 56 www.businessgrenada.com
