For some 50 years, it’s stood for the finest in woodworking on the island. For more than 45 of those years, the name meant your work would be done by master woodworker Rudolph Herrera. Now, the name and its attached fame belong to Rudolph’s son, Stephen Herrera and his wife, Janelle, under the firm name of base of experience. In doing so, he brought modern tools and techniques to his family’s tradition of quality. He also widened the product line, adding his own line of furniture to the kitchen and cabinet business. “We previously did 70 percent kitchens and cabinets and 30 percent furniture,” Janelle Herrera says, speaking for the company. “Now the lines are on par.” The Herreras work together on the business.
