Petite Anse Resort
ost visitors to Grenada are familiar with the Grand Anse (“Great Cove”) area, whose spectacular shores house some of the island’s finest hotels. However also there’s good reason to “think smaller” as to where to stay. In fact, you might want to try a place called “Petite Anse”. You’ll find it on the relatively undeveloped northern coast of the island, within view of the neighboring Grenadines and sister island Carriacou. And you’ll find that “petite” is as good a description of the hotel as it is of the small cove that houses it. The Petite Anse Resort has but 11 rooms, with a maximum occupancy of just 22 pampered sojourners. The hotel is brand new, opened in 2009. Its builders and owners are Philip and Annie Clift. Though Philip, as he prefers to be called, has owned a hotel in England since 1982, his background has primarily been in farming, But in 2000, he and Annie got the urge to ramble, bought a boat and spent the next four years living on board in various Caribbean ports, including Grenada.
