The United States had com- plained about this in 2013 and won the case last year. India had until December 14 to comply with the ruling; it told the DSB last week that it had done so. It will raise one-third of the amount from Housing Devel- opment and Finance Corp. Ltd (HDFC), its parent. “The board has approved raising of up to `24,000 crore of which up to a maximum of `8,500 crore shall be through a pref- erential issue to HDFC Ltd,” the notification stated.
