Please tell us about your definition of leadership — both in the workplace and in volunteer efforts: that suicide has and how we can bring hope to those affected by it. Leadership is more than just being a manager over a group of people. Leadership requires you to motivate and set an example to those for whom you are leading. Whether you were in a workplace environment or volunteering being a good leader means you are setting that example, you're influ- encing those around you to strengthen the causes that you were working towards. If you are a leader within a work environment you were working hands-on with those employees underneath you to execute the plan that you have strategize together. And while volunteering you are leading that group of volunteers for whom you are over by working alongside them to assure that you are all exceeding the goals that you are trying to meet. In your opinion, what is the single best thing about being involved — living or working — in Southern Indiana and why: Please tell us about all volunteer efforts that are important to you and why: Southern Indiana already does a great job with providing family friendly events and activities, with that being said, there is always a need for logistical support when it comes to the safety of these great events. We have some great officers in both Clark and Floyd County. They need our support in fund- ing their abilities to strengthen these community events, allowing families to feel safe from harm in many ways. Not only, with our help, can they pro- vide more support at the events, but we can help them prepare and prevent any harm prior to the events through educational programs, such as drug prevention and awareness. With programs like this, families will feel more comfortable knowing that their children can go and participate in the commu- nity and not be affected by these issues. Prior to the military I had the privilege of working with relay for life of Clark county for about three years. Cancer has affected so many people in my family that by serving on the planning committee and providing activities and entertainment during the really was a great way for me to give back to those who have battled cancer. I have also had the privilege to work with some great friends, the last couple of years, in raising money for Out of the Darkness walk that is done to help raise awareness for suicide prevention. Suicide has become a horrible tragedy in this day and age and we need to help out as much as we possibly can to assure that people are aware of the affects Federally Insured by NCUA. Equal Housing Opportunity. The single best thing about living in Southern Indiana is the people. Although I am not originally from Indiana, I have been welcomed by so many people from the day I moved into the area. The community has taking me in and made me part of their family. I see so many people reaching out to those in need. I have not seen this kind of unity in any other communities for long and I am honored to apart of this great family. If you could put your time and/or money into one thing in Southern Indiana to make it better, what would it be and why:
