lorent “Flo” Groberg shares
stories of bravery and leadership

combat

inspire
audiences to see the opportunity in

the strength to complete any mission.
On August 8, 2012, Florent
was on his second deployment to
Afghanistan when he made a split-
second decision that prevented
greater catastrophe and changed
his life forever. His selfless display of
courage in tackling a suicide bomber
while protecting a command team
on that fateful day earned him the
Medal of Honor, and the distinction
as the 10th living American to receive
the nation’s top award for valor in
combat since the attacks on Sept. 11,
2001. Today, as director of veteran’s
outreach at Boeing and LinkedIn’s
veteran’s program spokesperson, he
is a powerful and prominent advocate
for veterans’ issues. Florent’s new
book, “8 Seconds of Courage,” reveals
lessons he learned on leadership,
teamwork and overcoming adversity
on the battlefield, and their direct
application
and
connection
to
executives, managers and business
situations.
With gratitude, gallantry and
reverence, he inspires audiences to
go above and beyond the call of duty,
find the positive in the negative, and
summon their absolute best in the
most adverse conditions.

he highly acclaimed Salute to the Military event provides
the opportunity to support the local military installations
and the active duty military personnel, veterans and
their families that call our community home. This event also
enables us to publicly recognize the collaborative efforts made
by our community business leaders, elected officials and
military leaders as we work together to strengthen the military
environment in South Texas. Salute to the Military has become
a favorite in the community as we invite a large number of
military personnel to attend as our honored guests.
The 2018 Salute to the Military, presented by Walmart,
will take place Thursday, July 26 at the Solomon P. Ortiz
Center. The featured guest speaker is Florent "Flo" Groberg-
an inspiring Medal of Honor Recipient, Director of Veterans
Outreach at Boeing and LinkedIn Spokesperson.
A limited number of tables ($800 Chamber members;
$850 non-members) and tickets ($75 Chamber members; $85
non-members) to attend Salute to the Military are still available
