Coastal Bend Business Community Unites to Help Small Businesses Impacted by Hurricane Harvey H urricane Harvey impacted the entire Coastal Bend busi- ness community in a big way and the business community is working together to rebuild, restore and recover our region. Representatives from area chambers of commerce, visitors bureaus, economic development corporations, elected officials and other special guests have joined forces to host the "Boots, Business and BBQ" fundraiser presented by AEP Texas. Event Production Team includes the Port of Corpus Christi who will pro- vide the venue, the Corpus Christi Mustangs who will provide the food, and Budweiser's Corpus Christi BikeFest members who will provide desserts. "It is important that we all work as a region and show those small businesses that we care and that we want them to rebuild," said Cleo Rodriguez, Jr., President and CEO of the United Corpus Christi Chamber of Commerce. "These small businesses are the backbone of our communities." A limited number of sponsorships are still available and may be pur- chased online at unitedcorpuschristi- chamber.com. The event will be held at 5 p.m. on Thursday, November 16 at the Congressman Solomon P. Ortiz International Center. The fundraiser is designed to help small businesses devastated by Hurricane Harvey to get back to normal. The participating orga- nizations have agreed to a distribution of event proceeds that guarantees the small businesses in the areas most impacted by Hurricane Harvey receive a fair share and that all the funds stay in the Coastal Bend. An application process for small business- es needing to rebuild and re-open will be administered through area chambers. A committee composed of third-party/ neutral representatives will determine recipients.
