cause to patients with an
active lifestyle.
South Texas Bone and
Joint’s physicians work
alongside athletic depart-
ments and trainers of the
school districts in Corpus
Christi, Sinton, Grego-
ry-Portland and others
throughout South Texas.
Our physicians assess
and treat patients who
experience overtraining
syndrome, concussions,
and other injuries.
Patients with injuries might
not require surgery but,
if needed, South Texas
Bone and Joint has sur-
geons available who spe-
cialize in different areas
of the body. Whether it is
a complicated ankle frac-
ture or a hand problem,
our physicians have many
years of expertise and
knowledge.
Besides working with
athletes, our physicians
treat patients with inju-
ries or chronic pain. One
of the biggest problems
Americans suffer from is
low back pain. Chronic
low back pain is not truly a
diagnosis but a symptom.
The key to treat low back
pain is to assess the cause
of the back pain. Unfortu-
nately, back pain can be
very complicated to diag-
nose because it can be as
minor as a muscle strain, or
as severe as affecting your
ability to walk. Our physi-
cians thoroughly examine
patients for back pain by
reviewing their full history
and completing a thorough
physical exam, including
a neurological exam for
a complete assessment.
Patients experiencing
chronic pain are evaluated
by the physicians to create
a treatment plan based on
the diagnosis causing their
back pain. Two of the most
important treatment options
for back pain are physical
therapy and exercise. Al-
ternatively, our physicians
can assist with fluoroscop-
ic guided epidural steroid
injections, spine injections,
and nerve blocks that ease
inflammation and pain.
These injections make the
required exercises bearable
and easier for the patient
to tolerate. The ultimate
goal for our physicians is to
improve the quality of life
for patients who suffer from
chronic low back pain.
