PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE United Corpus Christi Chamber Members and Supporters, In this month’s issue we focus on the Military and the impact the area’s military installations have on our community. In addition to our Nation's’ defense, local military installations have a major impact on our local economy. For example, did you know that Naval Air Station Corpus Christi and Corpus Christi Army Depot employ over 8900 persons and represent over 10% of our local economy? This is why your United Chamber and our South Texas Mili- tary Facilities Task Force work diligently to support the military from ensuring safe flight training, to providing the “wings of gold” to every new Navy pilot to “Saluting the Military” at our annual luncheon (which will be on August 1st, see you there!). Also, this will be my last message as your Interim President. I appreciate all of your support and have really enjoyed the opportunity to represent the area’s business community. I will continue to be active supporter of the local commu- nity and our United Corpus Christi Chamber of Commerce! Respectfully, KRESTEN COOK Interim President & CEO
