T he Chamber’s legislative agenda for the 85th session built on the progress of recent years while committing to address long-term challenges. We continue to to lead initiatives to strengthen our business climate, drive improvements in edu- cation attainment, attract and retain the best and brightest workforce from around the world, promote a regulatory climate that offers stability and predictability to investors, and advocate for public policies that strategically manage growth in the Coastal Bend to ensure a high quality of life for all. Our legislative agenda can be found by clicking here. As a region, the Coastal Bend did very well during the 85th. Here are some of the successes we can claim: TEXAS WINDSTORM INSURANCE ASSOCIATION (TWIA): There were no changes in the reforms we achieved during the last session with the passage of SB 900. Protecting these reforms was one of our highest priorities. PROTECTING OUR MILITARY BASES: SB 277: The Military Preparedness Protection Act assures Texas military facilities with aviation training missions can operate safely without the threat of encroaching wind energy projects interfering with pilot safety and radar operations. $20 Billion for the Defense Economic Adjustment Assistance Grant, which sup- ports military value projects that enhance Texas installations’ missions and improve operational efficiencies.
