T hank you for all who attended our 2017 Salute to the Military luncheon, presented by Walmart on August 1st at the Ortiz Center. Captain Gail Haris, USN, (Ret.) was an entertaining, thought provoking, motivational speaker who was well received by a sold out crowd of close to 600 attendees. The luncheon was a time for the Chamber to pause and thank our local military community in the region and throughout South Texas. The United Corpus Christi Chamber of Commerce prides itself on highlighting the importance of the military community in Corpus Christi. Whether through our South Texas Military Facilities Task Force, New Pilot Winging ceremonies, military indoctrinations, (led by the Chamber for active duty service members new to Corpus Christi), and now the newly formed Mil- itary Legacy Scholarship, the Chamber is very involved and engaged with our local military leadership and community. We were honored to present the very first Military Lega- cy Scholarship at the event with the help of the Found- ing Military Legacy Scholarship Sponsor: Whataburg- er, and support of Sustaining Partners: IBC Bank and Mortgage Financial Services. Thank you again to our event sponsors: Presenting: Walmart; Silver: South Texas Military Facility Task Force, 1st Community Bank, Spectra Food Services at the Ortiz Center, Unique Em- ployment Services; Bronze: Cameron Commercial & In- dustrial Properties, Corpus Christi International Airport, City of Corpus Christi, Flint Hills Resources, Gulf Com- press, Valero, Whataburger; and Additional Sponsors: Jack "Gary" Alspaugh Insurance Agency, Ecolab, Mort- gage Financial Services, & Kalypso Wellness Centers. Last, but certainly not least a special thank you to the USO of South Texas, and all of the Chamber Champi- ons who volunteered their time to make this event a great success!
