ITM 413 Seminar in Tourism (3 credits) Prerequisite: ITM 121 or Dean’s Approval This course explores various situations and issues in the tourism industry. Students have opportunities to invite experts in tourism related industries to share their experiences and valuable knowledge for the purpose of applying it to their future careers. Major Electives Students have to choose on e track of concentration tracks; 1) Creative Tourism Business Track ITM 341 Creative Travel Planning and Organizing (3 credits) Prerequisite: ITM 225 or Dean’s Approval A study of principles and elements of tour organizing, process and techniques of tour planning, creative tour itinerary writing, marketing and public advertising. Students have opportunities to organize an actual tour for a real destination. ITM 342 E-Business for Tourism Industry (3 credits) Prerequisite: IIT 201 or Dean’s Approval This course provides the background of E-business development with the supporting advancement of modern technology, electronic information exchanges, customer relation management along with business development through electronic media. The study wil be hands-on in the computer lab. ITM 343 Creative Tourism (3 credits) ITM 344 New Product Development in Tourism (3 credits) ITM 345 Entrepreneurship for Tourism Business (3 credits) Prerequisite: ITM 121 or Dean’s Approval This course explores the meaning, concepts, and forms of creativity in tourism as a value adding element of the tourism business through case studies and field trips. Prerequisite: ITM 225 or Dean’s Approval This course explores the market demands and trends as well as the business environment in order to identify the market opportunities for new products or business development in response to the market needs. Market survey and new product presentation to the tourism industry are also studied. Prerequisite: ITM 225 or Dean’s Approval A study of roles, types, and characteristics of entrepreneurship including business planning, analysis, and business environment evaluation for both internal and external aspects along with the pathway and opportunities to become an entrepreneur in the tourism business.
