Following a resolution supporting the Building
a Healthier Polk Initiative, the Lakeland City
Commission adopted comprehensive planning
policies to promote active transportation, public
safety for pedestrians and bicyclists, community
gardens, aging-in-place, and collaboration with the
Health Department and other agencies.

Family Fun and Fitness at the Fountain expanded to
2 Saturdays per month and a Lakeland city commissioner started a walking event on the first Tuesday
of each month.
