LUN
In 2016, the lung transplantation program at Baylor
Dallas continued to grow in terms of reputation and
number of patients evaluated and treated. A total of
40 lung transplants were performed, placing the program
in the top 25 percent nationally. Over the past three years,
the one-year survival rate for lung transplant patients was
86.41 percent, compared to the UNOS expected rate of
86.21 percent. Remarkably, this outstanding outcome was
achieved even though the Baylor Dallas lung transplant
team accepted sicker, higher risk, more complex patients
who had higher lung allocation scores.
