During the food drive, Gary spreads the word, puts out grocery
carts, collects donations and stays in touch with the food pantry
to ensure the food is picked up at least twice weekly. He finds
the time despite working two positions – one in the day surgery
unit, managing essential paperwork and records, and the other
serving in a part-time role as a coordinator in interventional
radiology services.
The time and effort are worth it. “When I had the opportunity
to deliver the food myself on the weekends, I would personally
experience these moments of joy and appreciation, and each
moment truly touched me,” he recalls. “These are people in real
need, and I’m just glad to be able to do my part.”
Gary’s selflessness and commitment to the hospital, his
neighbors and the health care community don’t go unnoticed.
In April 2016, the Dallas-Fort Worth Hospital Council named
him one of four Employee of the Year Award winners.
“ These are people in real need, and I’m
just glad to be able to do my part.”
