As the South Boston Waterfront continues to evolve , RBA ’ s design for one of the area ’ s first public open spaces continues to serve as a gateway to the southern sections of the Harborwalk for residents , tourists , and lunch-hour workers equally . The design of Fan Pier Park allows both expansive and contemplative moments — capitalizing on the harbor views while also offering shady places to sit and relax . The space injects breathing room into the new neighborhood , a crucial aspect in a fast-changing and densifying area of the city .
