NOW / BSLA LETTER FROM THE EDITORS A primary role of BSLA is to advocate This issue of Fieldbook is all about for our members. Much of the time this advocacy occurs behind the scenes, our executive committee toiling away in office conference rooms in the wee hours of the workdays and weekend, with the determined focus of bringing benefits to the members as a whole. you, the individuals who make up the tapestry of one of the largest and most vibrant chapters of ASLA, and it doesn’t stop here. Showcasing of individual achievement will grow stronger as these and other stories become part of the new website and BSLA blog, where members will be featured in perpetuity. This issue of Fieldbook is the beginning of a new form of engagement that will allow all of our members to put themselves out there for potential clients, employees, and partners to get an enhanced view of the world of landscape architecture — the world you all continue to create. BSLA is lucky to have a large and engaged membership. With Fieldbook (and this is our fifth issue!) an outlet has been created to reach you — our members— with messaging that helps your business, honors your achievements, and showcases the enormity of the talent that sits within our Chapter. As we thought of ways to improve our communication techniques as an organization, it became clear that we have the opportunity to make our members part of the messaging. This light bulb led not only to the focus of this issue, but to implementing new ways of utilizing our printed and digital resources. (Read more about the website on page 78.) Fieldbook is published twice a year by the Boston Society of Landscape Architects (BSLA). Articles do not necessarily reflect the view or position of BSLA.
