improve the way that we communicate our ideas , holistically with these historic art forms which our practice was founded upon .
In our studio , the drawing does not stop after schematic design . We continue to draw by hand during design development and often draw many of our custom details during construction documents at first by hand . We look back at the early sketches for inspiration — trying not to lose the focus of the type and manner of place we are crafting . There is an understanding that every material we select and the way we construct these details is an expression of that initial conceptual sketch . It is rewarding to see the ideas that were born originally on a napkin transformed into a sheet of construction details and specifications . It is our goal to make our construction document sets not only tight and thorough , but also well-crafted and legible for the contractor and the client . A reliance on art within our studio will continue to define the projects we undertake as we move forward into the next decade of built work .
