AMANDA CALAMITO
PLANNING FOR THE FUTURE
A
manda Calamito (‘17)
is a great example of
a Bryn Athyn student
taking advantage of the myriad
internship and job opportunities in the Philadelphia area. She
is involved with not one, but
two off-campus activities that
together reflect the hybridized career path she has
set for herself. Calamito aspires to be a lawyer for
a professional sports team, and has gone about
tailoring her college experience to this end.
Calamito is a business major, taking a variety
of courses from marketing to business ethics and
accounting. She works as a student ambassador
for the college, has served on Student Government, and has started her own community-service
sorority, Kappa Delta Theta. With so much on
her plate, she’s firing on all cylinders and honing serious organizational and time management
skills. We caught up with her and asked to hear
more about two of her off-campus involvements:
an internship with Senator Pat Toomey, and a Job
with the Philadelphia 76ers.
With her career goals in mind, Calamito set
out to gain experience in the field of law and in the
world of professional athletics. Her first step toward a law-related internship was guided by Laura
Nash, BAC’s Director of Experiential Education
and Career Planning. Laura sent an email to the
student body about internships with Senator Pat
Toomey, and Calamito went ahead and applied.
