ALUMNI running MILESTONES header Friends from School When Amy Dwyer married last summer, her nine best friends from Bryn Athyn College attended as bridesmaids. From left, Marissa Pitts (AA ’12), Holly Adams (BA ’14), Michaela Boyesen (BA ’14), Mira Harmon, Karla Hyatt (BA ’14), Amy (Dwyer) Glenn (BS ’14), Nora Roscoe, Chloé Kund (BA ’14), Anni (Glover) Fehon (AA ’14), and Samantha Crittenden (BS ’14). After meeting years ago at Bryn Athyn College, these 10 friends have continued to nurture their bond, even as new chapters have opened in their lives. Now in their mid-twenties, each woman has navigated her own path through career development, relationships, and other challenges and joys. The friends have seen each other graduate, take on jobs, and pursue new ventures. Some have gotten married and started families. Yet even as their paths have diverged, they have continued to make time to get together, share life updates, and reminisce. The crew stays in touch through group texts, a “Friendsgiving” feast every fall, and camping or beach trips each summer. Mira Harmon says, “For me, there’s something magical and liberating about sharing so much diverse feminine energy. We’re companions to each other’s laughter and spirit; it’s immense and invaluable.” Chloe Kund (BS ’14) says, “I feel incredibly grateful for our friendship. To be supported by nine women who are strong, intelligent, kind, hilarious, and committed to our connection has transformed my young adult life. I’ve grown up with these women, and I continue to learn from our friendship even years after graduating.”
Bryn Athyn College served as the meeting place for these wonderful women and provided an environment in which they could grow together. In a dynamic way, this group depicts the College’s motto, “Think for yourself. Live for Others.” All are different, finding their own paths and contributing to society in their own ways. Yet they continue to consider and care for each other, creating a living, breathing network based on mutual respect. 38 | S P R I N G / S U M M E R 2 0 1 8
