running header ALLEN BEDFORD GOODWILL ITSELF By Angella Irwin I n July 2017, Allen J. Bedford, Ph.D., (BA ’89) will start a yearlong sabbatical. Having been accepted into the American Academic Lead- ership Institute’s Executive Leadership Academy, he will spend a good portion of his time studying administrative systems in small colleges and how they put best practice into action on their cam- puses. A good fit for his love of problem solving and operations, this program will stimulate his voracious curiosity and result in valuable sugges- tions for Bryn Athyn College. As customarily fol- lows a sabbatical, Allen will present his findings upon his return. Allen’s exploration will continue to build upon a legacy that he has been creating for over 20 years — a legacy of trustworthy infor- mation gathering, careful collection and analysis of data, and knowledgeable, informed contribu- tions to an institution he believes in. Since 2010, Allen has been the chief academic officer (CAO) and academic dean at the College. Twenty years before that, in 1990, he started his career here as a lecturer in chemistry and, over time, filled numerous positions on the faculty and in the administration.
