Exercises for alignment, flexibility, and coordination
will develop a strong foundation of understanding
classical ballet training. Posture and placement of
classical ballet with be emphasized. Students will
gradually move into the traditional ballet format of
barre followed by center exercises.

Jazz dance is based on rhythm and ballet used in
musical theater, commercial, and the entertainment.
It’s American dance form evolves and changes with the
latest popular styles. Students work on placement and
technique while learning modern and contemporary
jazz styles. Classes consist of warm-ups, floor
progressions and center combinations.
* Participants will have the Opportunity to
perform at the Chicago Youth Dance Exhibition on
December 3rd.
Little or no previous dance experience necessary.

Stresses technique and stretching. We’ll work
on correct body alignment, coordination, strength,
and performance quality. Jazz vocabulary is further
explained through intermediate across-the-floor
exercises and combinations. We’ll explore various
types of jazz, Broadway, street, and contemporary
style.
At least two years Jazz I experience or teacher permission
needed.

This is a beginning level class that develops
our young dancers’ abilities to move by focusing on
high/low levels, singing, and rhythmic movement
set to drumming and recorded music. Students will

a strong foundation in ballet as well as exploring their
imaginations to imitate animals and natural objects
