GO OUTSIDE AND (AT HELLER NATURE CENTER) Not everyone knows that the Park District of Highland Park makes exploring our natural woodlands possible. At Heller, you can get in touch with your wild side, encountering nearly 100 acres full of native plants and animals. Parks Foundation of Highland Park was created to support the Park District and its residents by raising funds to help your inner adventurer roar. WHAT THE PARKS FOUNDATION DOES: Meeting the growing and changing needs of the community and keeping taxes and program fees in check the gap between public resources and the need to maintain a vibrant park system by: DID YOU KNOW? • Property taxes support only 50% of the Park District operating costs. • nine facilities, and 3,000 programs. • Providing scholarship funds for participants the SMILE Grant-in-Aid program • Raising funds to enhance the Park District’s quality recreation programs, services and facilities • Encouraging advocates and supporters to give time, money and talents MAKE A DIFFERENCE.
