A refund or transfer for one-day programs must be requested
at least four days in advance. No refunds or transfers are issued
after this time.
See page 89 for programs refund policy.
Weather Policy
All programs are conducted rain or shine. In the event of
extreme or dangerous weather, the program will be cancelled
and participants will be refunded in full.
Please dress for the weather.
Hit the snow on three
miles of ungroomed
trails at Heller Nature
Center. You can rent skis
for the day whenever
snow conditions permit
(4” base or greater).
No overnight rentals
available. Rental
includes no-wax skis,
boots and poles. Sizes
available for six-year-
olds through adults.
A driver’s license or $20
deposit is required per rental. No reservations are taken. Cash,
checks or credit card payments are accepted. Call 847.433.6901 to
check on snow conditions.

Group and Custom Programs
Heller staff is happy to design an environmental education or
outdoor recreation program to meet your needs or you may
choose from an established program such as geocaching,
hike and campfire or team building. Choose the location of
your program at Heller Nature Center or Rosewood Beach
Interpretive Center. Dates, times and availability vary. For more

Wander Woods
Visit our nature playspace and let your imagination guide you!
Unstructured nature play has been proven to build motor skills,
creativity, attention span, social skills and so much more in kids
(and adults!) of all ages. Dig, Build, Crawl, Listen, Climb…a few
of the many activities the playspace encourages. Open daily
from dawn to dusk. Come explore today!

Natural Areas Volunteer Program
Come join the Natural Areas Volunteer Crew for a
morning of RESTORATION.
Workday activities include:
• Invasive species removal • Seed collecting and
processing
• Brush pile burning

• Planting of native species
