Water Safety Tips
Inclement Weather / Low Bather Policy
• Operating hours are subject to prevailing weather conditions , including cold weather , electrical storms , and heavy rains .
• If lightning and / or thunder are seen / heard or when Strike Guard activates , the pool will be cleared and will not re-open until 30 minutes pass without lightning or thunder or until Strike Guard signals that the lightning has cleared . If weather conditions persist , the pool will close .
• If the pool closes for the morning , the weather will be reevaluated at 2pm to determine if the pool will re-open at 3pm . If weather conditions persist , the pool will close for the evening .
• The pool will close if the temperature is 65 degrees or lower .
• The pool will close for the morning if fewer than 25 swimmers are present after 11am .
• The pool will close for the afternoon if fewer than 25 swimmers are present after 4pm or 6pm .

Outdoor Aquatic Fitness | Adults A great alternative to traditional lap swimming or to land fitness classes . A vigorous exercise with little or no impact on the body with the added benefit of strength work due to the water resistance . Strike Guard : Lightning Detection System
Strike Guard lightning detection systems are at key locations around the district . Strike Guard is a state-ofthe-art solarpowered system with a unique and advanced detection technology that tracks actual lightning strikes and will sound when lightning is within a 10-mile radius . Lifeguards are responsible for maintaining a safe environment in the pool and surrounding pool deck , performing rescues , and providing first aid . Current certification is desirable , but training is provided .
Swim instructors are responsible for instructing children in group lessons and developing each student into a confident , life-long swimmer . Training is provided .

Outdoor Lifeguards ( 16 years & over )
Responsible for maintaining a safe environment at the outdoor pool and surrounding pool deck or at the swimming beach , performing rescues , and providing first aid . Candidates must be able to complete the American Red Cross Certification .
