Calling all serious adventure seekers ! Spend your summer doing adventure and survival-based activities ! Camping , caving , hiking , SCUBA diving , canoeing , biking , archery , fishing and meeting live animals are part of the fun .
Grades 5-6
Overnight camping trips and outdoor survival skills .
Activities
Enjoy the summer at Heller Nature Center and other field trip , campout and adventure-based locations where using social skills such as respect and responsibility are key .
Learn survival skills such as :
• Starting a fire with one match
• Identifying edible wild plants
• Camping
• Orienteering
Be challenged both mentally and physically .
This 7 -week camp features five overnight camping trips ranging from one to three nights ( weekends excluded ).
Important Information
Each session has multiple campouts . Campers must bring a sack lunch and beverage to camp every day . On overnight trips , the Park District provides the majority of meals .
Campers receive a t-shirt and water bottle on the first day of camp .
Staff members are certified in Red Cross first aid and CPR to ensure camper safety at all times .
The camper to staff ratio is 8:1 . Heller Nature Center , 2821 Ridge Road
