YOUTH TENNIS LEVEL DESCRIPTIONS
Please refer to the following descriptions to place your child in the proper class . ( If your child is currently enrolled in GTC ’ s Session III lesson program , please sign your child up for their current class level .)
Little Hitters : Beginner class . QuickStart format using transitional balls on a 36 ’ court . Just starting to play tennis .
Big Hitters ( ages 5-6 ) Beginner and Intermediate class . QuickStart Tennis using transitional balls on a 36 ’ court .
JUNIOR LEVEL
8 & under – Level I ( ages 7-8 ) Beginner & Intermediate . Quickstart format using transitional “ red ” balls on a 36 ’ court . Building upon fundamentals and working toward sustained rallying . Able to serve on a 36 ’ court .
8 & under – Level II ( ages 7-8 ) More advanced / experienced . Quickstart format using transitional “ red ” balls on a 36 ’ court .
10 & under – Level I ( ages 9-10 ) Beginner / Introductory . Quickstart format using transitional “ orange ” balls on a 60 ’ court . Learning basic fundamentals , while learning to rally and grasp basic concepts .
10 & under – Level II ( ages 9-10 ) Intermediate . Quickstart format using transitional “ orange ” balls on a 60 ’ court . Continuing growth of fundamentals and working toward sustained rallying . Able to serve with “ orange ” ball on a 60 ’ court .
10 & under – Level III ( ages 9-10 ) Advanced . Quickstart format using transitional “ green dot ” balls on a full length 78 ’ court . Able to sustain rallies , has a solid concept of spin , consistency serving and returning serve in order to play match tennis .
14 & under – Level I ( ages 11-14 ) Beginner . Full 78 ’ court using “ green dot ” and regular balls . Learning basic fundamentals , while learning to rally and grasp basic concepts .
14 & under – Level II ( ages 11-14 ) Intermediate . Full 78 ’ court using regular balls . Continuing growth of fundamentals and working towards sustained rallying . Able to produce spin and control all shots including the serve and return of serve .
Varsity Prep ( ages 11-14 ) and High School ( ages 14-18 ) Advanced . Full 78 ’ court using regular balls . Ability to practice and play on a consistent level with a peer . Strong grasp on hitting all ground strokes and serves with spin and ability to control volleys . Ability to perform more advanced drills .
QUICKSTART & YOUTH LESSONS
The Glenview Tennis Club professional staff introduces the game of tennis to beginning players age 10 and under using the QuickStart format , while offering advanced instruction to the more advanced players .

All Quickstart and youth lessons are held indoors at the Glenview Tennis Club .
WHAT IS QUICKSTART ?
Quick Start is an exciting format for learning tennis . It is designed to introduce children to the game by adapting the equipment , court dimensions and the scoring to the age and size of the child .
At Glenview Tennis Club , our primary focus is for our young players to have FUN — and stay involved in tennis ! Our skills emphasize the ABC ’ s of tennis : Agility , Balance and Coordination . Each activity , drill and game involves a skill that will improve your child ’ s tennis and overall athletic capability .
Sign up for two or more classes per week and receive a 25 % discount off each additional class per child .
LITTLE & BIG HITTERS
Introduce children to the game of tennis . Having fun , learning to socialize and developing motor skills are emphasized . Same fee for residents and nonresidents , regardless of membership .
