Athletics ILLINOIS GIRLS LACROSSE ASSOCIATION Be part of a youth lacrosse league exclusively for girls. The empha- sis of this program is development. The goals of the program are to understand the rules of lacrosse, active teamwork, sportsmanship, and foster personal development in a respectful environment led by positive coaching. IGLA has adopted the US Lacrosse “PLAYERS FIRST” ATHLETE DEVELOPMENT MODEL which means small fields and a smaller number of players. Girls are more engaged, get more touches on the ball and further develop their skills. Leagues: Pink League teams practice once per week. Purple League teams practice twice per week and may travel more for games. Players considering the Purple League must first attend an assessment (visit for date and locations) to be assessed on stick skills and game play. Current Purple play- ers can register directly for the league.
