Montessori for children Estd 1986 (Hong Kong) Singapore INFORMATION ON EXTENDED DAYS THE MONTESSORI EXTENDED-DAY SESSION The Extended Day affords children a longer day at school. After completing the regular three-hour session in the morning, children enrolled in this session, are taken to a common area, where they may have lunch (to be brought to school) and experience a social setting with their schoolmates. Lunch is supervised by our teachers. Thereafter, the Extended Day teachers conduct classes until 3.30 p.m. The curricula includes all aspects of the Montessori method, in a wider range, so children may explore their learning as well as i-leaning, to a greater extent. Children in the Extended Day session are also given the opportunity to further their talents in staged Music and Movement presentations, participate on unit related excursions and develop sportsmanship. The longer day at school is also helpful to prepare your child for the next stage of their education – primary school. ‘BIAN DANG BAN’ (MANDARIN) The curricula for the ‘bian dang ban’ (BDB) programme is designed for your child to be immersed in Chinese culture. That includes vocabulary building, exploring Chinese calligraphy (strokes and characters), literature, art and craft, and generally learning about all things that are ‘Chinese’. It also offers a unique environment for your child to learn much about Chinese customs and traditions that you see in Singapore! BDB is also an ideal preparatory programme for children who will be adopting Mandarin as their second language in primary school. Children in this session lead the performances at our Lunar New Year and Mid-Autumn festival celebrations. HINDI MILAP Literally meaning ‘getting together’! Children in this extended day session experience the magic, mystery, wonder and learn about the ancient traditions of Indian culture, immersed in a Hindi speaking environment. Based on Akshar and Mathra recognition, the introduction to writing and having a conversation in Hindi are the focal points of the programme. We encourage children to learn a new language and experience an enriching culture, by enrolling in one of the above immersion programmes. They are also invited to experience the most at school with a combination of them! Please contact us for more information.
