Broadcast Beat Magazine September, 2014 | Page 4

Welcome! This inaugural issue of Broadcast Beat Magazine is something I'm very proud of! It has been a long-time coming and it took many years for me to finally get to this point.

The Broadcast Beat Magazine has been a dream of mine and, as such, has been a labor of love. It will start out quarterly, with the first September, 2014 Special IBC 2014 Issue, with the second issue slated for January, 2015, followed by April 2015, July 2015 & Finally October, 2015.

Looking through this issue of the magazine, you will find many elements unable to grace standard print-edition magazines - such as hot-links to some of the products or special event information, the ability to click-on and listen to Broadcast Beat Radio, and embedded YouTube Videos, too! In that respect, digital has print BEAT!

In my ongoing career, I have taken part in many broadcast industry and engineering courses and am an advocate of The Society of Broadcast Engineers (SBE), the Society of Motion Picture and Television Engineers (SMPTE), the Institute of Electrical and Electrical Engineers Broadcast Technology Society (IEEE BTS) and the Association for Computing Machinery’s Special Interest Group on Computer Graphics and Interactive Techniques (ACM SIGGRAPH).

I am, in hopes, that Broadcast Beat Magazine will catch the eye of the most discriminate person in

or interested in the studio/broadcast/media industry. I am very proud to have the manufacturers appear here, because I feel a special connection with those who depend on having people in the field - engineers and end-users - who can honestly evaluate their products.

In fact, many manufacturers regularly seek my counseling on features for both software and hardware offerings. Being able to share all of this knowledge and experience, as well as provide a vehicle to inform everyone about studio and media happenings and other information, is my goal and the goal of Broadcast Beat Magazine.

So, I hope you enjoy reading this first issue, as much as I had enjoyment in creating and assembling it for you!
