PLAN YOUR TRIP: GETTING AROUND Amsterdam boasts excellent transport links, fantastic culture, and superb nightlife. In combination with the RAI, one of Europe’s leading exhibition and convention ven- ues, it all made for the perfect venue for IBC. Below find out the best ways of getting to Amsterdam and arrang- ing accommodation, getting to the venue and registering, hints and tips on the City of Amsterdam and the best ways of getting around. TRAMS & BUSES Tram 4 runs between the RAI (stop Europe Square), the center of Amsterdam and Amsterdam Central Station. From Amstel Station you can reach the RAI with metro line 51 and bus 65. Metro 51 also runs to Amsterdam Central. Metro 50 operates a regular service between Amsterdam Sloterdijk and Gein and stops at RAI. TRAINS The RAI has its ‘own’ station, Amsterdam RAI. This station is a stone’s throw from the RAI complex and is easily accessible from all over the country by train. Follow the signs ‘Amsterdam RAI’ as you leave the station. For more information consult the NS planner on www.ns.nl/en. BICYCLES Inexpensive, good fun and probably the fastest way to travel - Amsterdam is renowned for its abundant cyclists! Bikes are available for rent at most railway stations or at a bike dealers or rental agencies in town. TAXIS IBC’s preferred Taxi Company is TCA taxis. A typical taxi journey from the RAI into the city centre should cost around €20.00 and from Schiphol airport to the RAI it should cost around €40.00.
