February 28, 2017 marked President Donald J. Trump’s first address to the Congress. In a very prestigious fashion he entered the gallery, greeting just about everyone in the wake of his path to the podium. Shaking hands, and conversing as if he had been in office for years. He seemed very comfortable as he wandered towards the front of the room. Being well received by the majority he greeted. One of the first things I noticed was the Democrats were seated to the life side of my screen and the Republicans to the right. President Trump took the time to acknowledge the Speaker of the house, the Vice President, Members of Congress the First Lady, as well as the Citizen of America. I'm not sure who received a great response the President or the First Lady, it was close.

President Trump's speech was very well orchestrated, well planned and was very interactive. He specialized in bringing attention special interest situations and people to help point out the need for action. He is becoming very comfortable and fluent in his speeches since he started his campaign. Right from the start he acknowledged current events with the threats to the Jewish communities, vandalism to the Jewish cemeteries, and the shootings in Kansas City. Mentions were made of the ending of Black History Month, and that though we are a nation divided in policies we stand united in condemning hate and evil in all forms.

He referenced American pride and history and continued to do so throughout the entire address. He made note that in 9 years the United States will celebrate its founding and declaration of its independence, being one of the greatest milestones in the history of the world. He posed the question, “What kind of country will we leave for our children?” And assured the gallery that he would not allow the same mistakes from the past to decide the course of our future. Receiving standing ovations throughout the entire hour long address.

One of the biggest things I noticed, most of the Democrats barely responded to any comments the President offered during his address. Even the Military representative only stood a couple of time during the address. Notably every time he mentioned areas of opposition he focused he attentions to the left side of the gallery that was mostly occupied by the Democrats. Most of his attentions were directed to the right side of the gallery where the Republicans were seated. He revisited his stance on losing jobs to other countries, and stated one of his most important points. Taking care of America and its people first. His address became a checklist and mirrored many of his campaign speeches. Although he was able to put facts behind the promises he made. He made a point of reaffirming the fact that he is very much on point at keeping up with his “first 100 day” plan. A plan that is looking like it is coming into fruition. I think this is one of the biggest thorns in the Democrats sides. He also pushed for unity between the parties. Some of the undertakings he spoke of were reducing job crushing regulations, creating a Deregulation Tasks Force, clearing the way for the Keystone and Dakota Access pipelines, and withdrawing the United States from the Trans-Pacific Partnership, all to create thousands of jobs for Americans.

He expressed great concern about the drug problem plaguing our borders and his plans to control our borders with strict, heavy enforcement. Reviewing his plan to eliminate ISIS from the planet. He spoke of our heritage and effectively quoted President Lincoln.

He address trade issues in the world and how American companies are being overly and unfairly taxed. Citing that Harley Davidson was being taxed 100% in some countries to sell their motorcycles. He stated “I believe in free trade but I also has to be Fair trade.” His new approach for fair immigration system which is slightly different that so many worried he would institute. He mentioned Dwight D. Eisenhower's great national infrastructure, the rebuilding of interstate highway program. Stating how we have spent six trillions of dollars overseas that could have rebuilt our infrastructure two – three times, creating millions of jobs. He pushed to instill the core values, Buy American, Hire American.

He called for Congress to appeal Obamacare ensuring that American with pre-existing conditions would have access to coverage, and people would have the choice to purchase their own coverage, the coverage they want, not what the government chooses, and be able to purchase insurance outside their state lines, and that everything that is broken can be fixed. Affordable healthcare, and FDA approval was addressed, presenting Ms Megan Crowley, who was inflicted with Pompe disease. She was diagnosed at 15 months and not expected to survive past 5 years old. Her father founded a company to find a cure and developed a drug that helped saved Megan's life. The slow FDA process kept drugs like the one that helped Megan get approved in a timely manner. President Trump called for a removal of the restraints within the FDA.

The President mentioned Jamiel Shaw, Susan Oliver, Jenna Oliver, and Jessica Davis, all with family members who were victims of violent crimes related to illegal immigrants.

He posed that he sent a budget to rebuild the military, and eliminate the Defense sequester. He expressed his concern for our veterans care

Remembrance was given to U.S. Navy Special Operator, Senior Chief William “Ryan” Owens Ryan who died defending our country. The entire gallery gave standing ovations that set a record. Mrs. Carryn Owens, Ryan's widow, was greatly over taken by the great response.

The only thing that would have made the address better would be a show of unity by the Democratic Party. It seemed to me they were acting like spoiled children refusing to join in on the party. We really need unity within the parties and our nation. This is the only way we could make America Great Again. Hand in hand united, coordinated, and focused to make this happen.

To say President Trump closed in a glamorous finish

would be an understatement. He stayed motivating

throughout this entire address and closed with a

flare that would be expected of a president that will

grow to become one of the greats. Still motivating

to keep America Great.
