Tick, Tock

By Sam Abbott

Could this be the early tail tell signs for the New Eros Island, the new virtual adult game on the block. We the patrons of the old Eros Island stood by in the final week, wondering and waiting for the demise of the old format of the game to be closed by parent company Utherverse CEO, Brian Shuster. Our magazine, Bending Reality, published a special edition, March 2017, dedicated solely just to document this somber event. Many took this as being the closure of their home. An eviction notice per-say. Some running here and there frantically to screen shot memories of locations and other avatars. Emotions were running extremely high, as would be expected and many claimed they would not return to any virtual world.

We are mostly simple in our needs. Our need for friendship and be accepted drives our need for these games. Many view these formats as real life, due to an inability to interact socially for one reason or another. Regardless of their reasons, stopping their ability to participate, be with their friends, leaves many wanting and feeling very alone. Some of us need the feeling of being able to do things we couldn't do in real life. Whether it be acting out of the ordinary, dressing in provocative manners, to the obvious sexual encounters. It enables us to shed our inhibitions and blossom into grand rose gardens within a comfortable space we can call home.

On Monday, 3-27-2017, Eros Island, the old format closed its doors for the last time around 8 P.M. REC... No real warning was given, just a purple crayon statement “THE NEW EROS ISLAND WILL OPEN IN 24 HOURS.” That 24 hours past and still no new format. Very little explanations were being given throughout the day, other than there has been a snag, and it would take a bit longer. Close to midnight the notice came that Eros Island would NOT be opened until Wednesday, 3-29.

At the Town Hall Meeting, 3-27-2017, BlowTorch and Crash were slightly assuring that everything should be up and running by the weekend, but may take no longer than Monday, 3-27, the estimated date when Brian Shuster would pull the plug.

Well I, and I'm sure like most, was, and still am, really anticipating the new formats arrival. I feel that once it is up and running many of the original members of old Eros Island log on and start to see people they once knew, their hearts will settle and regardless of what the format has to offer or not things will start to be better once again. Hopefully once the dust settles and all are settled in all the promises that BlowTorch and Crash made are met. They left us all with high expectations in what to expect when we finally arrive at our new home.

I know I don't speak for all, but, I'm ready to move on. I'm ready for something new, something different, something that was promised. I only hope that when I see you all there we can approach this with an open heart and give this a chance. Remember Rome was not built in a day and what we had before may take some time to rebuild. This may take some time, some patients, and some smiles once we start to settle in and make our new homes in the NEW Eros Island.
