- If you’re applying to a company, do your homework
about that company. What is their history? What are
their values?

- Find out what your passion is, you’re more likely to get
selected for a job if they can see you’re passionate
about that specific role.
- If you want to be a writer, then write something, start a
blog. Don’t come to an interview saying you want to be
a director when you haven’t directed anything. Create
a short film, show your passion.
- Every opportunity you have to network, go network.
Get out your comfort zone and talk to people. Don’t
know what to say? Ask them questions, people love
talking about themselves.
- Have a variety of skills, finance included. You will use
them one day.
Have you ever wondered if there is a place where
all media enthusiasts meet and deeply discuss, media
related subjects? Well there is, the IBC (International
Broadcasters Conference). Once a year IBC comes to
the RAI in Amsterdam. Thousands of exhibits fill the halls
and all the pros and amateurs from around the world,
meet and discuss upcoming new trends.
I took part in the Rising Stars programme which was
free. Included: free food and a VIP invite to an exclusive after party with free drinks… But of course I got
the chance to hear the professionals talk passionately
about their work. More importantly, they gave us direct
advice on how to present ourselves in the industry after
we graduate.
