Movember Masters)
By Irena Djourelova
Once again it’s Movember, Noshember, or simply No Shave November – a month full of happy
hairy chins, trying to raise awareness for men’s health issues. While some have just started looking
at the mirror wondering if anyone would notice that they support the cause, others have been
receiving compliments on their beards for months. The Brewed team went in search of the manliest faces on campus. Have a look at the chosen ones and read the stories behind their beards.
Sander Flisijn, 21, studying Visual Arts. Started growing a beard
when he was 14 years
old. Trims the beard
himself. Feels absolutely horrible without
a beard. However, he
always finds it nice to
feel the wind on his
shaved chin while he’s
biking.

Arief Ernst Hühn, 30,
a researcher and
a lecturer at NHTV.
Has had his current
beard style for a year.
Recently found the joys
of trimming it with scissors instead of using
a trimmer. Says he
wouldn’t cut his beard
even if he was offered
to become a president.
States that the best
presidents had beards,
referring to Lincoln.
Hidde van der Koij,
22, studying Programming. Started growing
his current beard only
half an year ago,
but wants it longer.
Had a big beard
before, shaved it, and
regretted immediately.
Claims that he would
sacrifice his beard
for love, however his
girlfriend accepts his
facial hair. Recently inspired his dad to grow
a beard.
Henrique Fernandes
Barreiros, 22, studying
International Leisure
Management. Took
growth hormones
injections because
of an illness when he
was 9, but grew an
impressive beard way
sooner than his friends.
Was never asked for
ID. Feels ugly without
a beard, but shaves
it for his girlfriend.
Enjoys a long distance
relationship.
