The best part of my internship is that I became part of the team, with all responsibilities a real employee of the company would have: Filming the therapy on land and underwater, editing and publishing the movies and printing the covers are all part of my job. Along with that, I am directly involved in creating a new marketing project for the company. The opportunity to be able to work so close with the core of the management not only gives me a vast amount of experience, but it also makes it the best internship experience I can imagine. And on top of that, I could live in the Caribbean for half a year! Sabine Kersten, Cape Town TV, Cape Town, South Africa I am a graduate student at IMEM. Last year, I did my third year work placement in Cape Town, South Africa. It was a broadcasting company called Cape Town TV. The five months I worked there were absolutely awesome. I learned a lot from the people that I worked with, but also living abroad on the other side of the world made it a beautiful experience. Cape Town itself is such an amazing and inspiring city to be living in. The people that I met along the way are still friends of mine or I even still work with them. Living in a different culture, different environment is something you will learn from. This year I am going to do my graduation in Cape Town again at another company. Finally going back for seven months and have an amazing time with beautiful people and seeing awesome and inspiring places. I would definitely recommend students to go abroad for their placement or graduation. You get the opportunity from school, so why not take it? You will learn so much from it, and you learn also a lot about yourself. You don’t have to go to the other side of the world, but getting experience in another country is something you can take with you in the future when you work with internationals. 53
