learn some foreign language in our lives
just for the fun of it or maybe because
we had that one foreign friend who was
speaking gibberish which you couldn’t
understand. My name is Tony - a second
year visual art student from IGAD and I’ll
tell you about my experience in teaching
my Dutch(and other foreign) friends some
Bulgarian.

It all started one night when was talking to my friend Niek who was very
curious as to how something is pronounced in my language. Heck, I don’t even
remember what exactly he wanted to know but I translated it to “Sto pak ne?”,
which in English means “Why not?”. From there, that phrase caught on throughout IGAD and I could hear it left and right for no apparent reason. It was quite
hilarious, as it kept going for a while.
