Lecturers’ All Time Favorites Anna Voinova from Moscow, Russia is one of the most beloved mADE lecturers. Among the students, she is widely known for her great sense of humor and slight obsession with Garfield. Anna teaches Academic English and Critical Reading and Writing. She also tutors the Event Management Production House for second year students from IMEM. As Anna is an expert in linguistics, the Brewed team decided to find out what her favorite books are. Take a look at her Top 3. Anna Voinova’s All Time Favorite Books #3 ‘Uncle Cleans Up’ In third place we have a lovely, crazy, and imaginative children’s book that Anna describes as an “undervalued masterpiece”. Her husband knew about Anna’s childhood fascination with ‘Charlie and the Chocolate Factory’, illustrated by the same artist, and so decided to introduce his wife to the misadventures of Uncle and his friends. Anna’s significant other actually read the book out loud to her - talk about old fashioned romance! #2 ‘Master and Margarita’ As a true Russian, Anna couldn’t neglect the classics of her country. ‘Master and Margarita’ is a captivating book about love and hate. However, it is nowhere near as heavy as the work of Dostoevsky or Tolstoy. If you want to have a look at Russian literature from a new angle, this is the read for you. #1 ‘D.V.’ Anna’s favorite book is ‘D.V’ – the autobiography by Diana Vreeland, one of the most famous fashion editors of our time. Anna is inspired by her self-made beauty, great charisma, and extremely vivid imagination. While reading you’ll get an insight into the life of a person who knew how to dream big and managed to create “an absolutely magical life of her own”. 42
