ART 1900 FRISBEE One of history’s most famous inventors, Albert Einstein, once said: “If at first an idea is not absurd, then there is no hope for it.” With this quote in mind, we show you the inventions below. The story of the Frisbee started by the Frisbie Baking Company of Bridgeport that delivered pies to many colleges in New England. Students soon discovered that tossing and catching the empty pie tins was super fun; they played with them endlessly. Many colleges (including Yale!) are still fighting about being the inventors place of the Frisbee. 1927 CHEESE SLICER On a hot summer day in Norway… Thor BjØrklund was happy to find ‘Gouda-cheese’ in his lunch-box, however the cheese did melt due to the high temperature. Frustrated as he was Thor found the cheese slicer, so next time his wife could present him slices that wouldn’t melt. 1946 BIKINI None of the inventions above could rely on as much resistance than the two-piece-swimsuit. Just a couple of days before the bikini was introduced, nuclear tests were performed at “Atol Bikini”. The French hoped their invention would be as explosive as those tests and named the bikini after them. As a result models in Paris resisted to show the swimwear.
