1734 VIBRATOR
The first vibrator was a relief for doctors who
were suffering from overworked wrists and
hands. Vulvar stimulation, as it was called in this
century, had nothing to do with sex but was a
treatment for a wide variety of illnesses. A logical consequence was the invention of the first
steam-powered vibrator: the “manipulator”.
1869 COAT HANGER
Coat hangers were patented in the year 1869
already, however the coat hanger as we know
it was executed in 1903 by an employee of
the Timberlake Wire Company. His colleagues
couldn’t stop whining about the few coat hooks
provided by the company, so Albert took a wire
and created: the coat hanger.
1873 EARMUFFS
One day in Farmington Maine, the Earmuff capital of the world, the 15 year old Chester Greenwood was playing truant while testing his new
ice skates. The bitter cold went straight through
his scarf and Chester made two ear-shaped
loops out of wire and fur. Four years later Chester was the fortunate owner of Greenwood’s Ear
Protector Factory.
