Ramon Huiskamp, 4th year IGAD student Can you shortly summarize who you are? I’m Ramon, a fourth-year game design student at the NHTV. I recently worked on ‘Defend Your Friend’ and ‘The Red Stare’, which ended up winning two Dutch Game Awards. How was the transition from school to business? The most difficult part of the transition has been moving to the UK, and all the little things that come along with that– like applying for an insurance number here. Where did you do your inter- nship? I’m currently doing my interns- hip at Sumo Digital in Sheffield, an AAA game development company in the UK. I’m here for a year-long internship, which will end around July. Was it hard working with pro- fessionals as a student? Not at all, I was able to get wor- king in the first week, and I feel like I’m able to contribute to the game well, similar to my collea- gues. How did the employees welco- me you? Very openly! They were very approachable for any questions I had and helped me get settled quickly. 22 Who is the most interesting person you met during your internship? Sebastian Liese, the creator of Snake Pass (Sumo Digital’s first original IP) who entered the game industry through playing
