isiting Brevard Zoo is about reconnecting with native Florida and global
wildlife as well as your accompanying friends and family. We hope it also
helps inform you about the diverse work we do to improve the quality of
life for people and animals here in Florida. Although we are best known locally
for our work engaging citizens in saving the Indian River Lagoon, we are equally
passionate about what we do for threatened and endangered animals.
Our philosophy is very simple: when
Florida species need help, we answer
the call. We answer the call of local,
state and federal agencies who have
a problem that Brevard Zoo can
solve. Over the years, that has meant
pioneering a method to translocate
Florida scrub-jays, cracking the code
on how to breed Perdido Key beach
mice, convening working groups to
study the status of diamondback
terrapins and building a Sea Turtle
Healing Center. In this newsletter,
