BREAD SLICES Time to Renew Your 2014 Membership Each year, in early March, all Bread for the World members are asked to renew their annual membership. You can help Bread for the World operate with the greatest efficiency– and save the cost of additional reminders–by responding as quickly as possible when you receive your renewal request in the mail. You may also make an online membership gift at www.bread.org/renew. Those in the Baker’s Dozen monthly giving program and others who have made recent gifts will receive their annual membership card, indicating that there’s no need to send a gift at this time. Many members, however, choose to send a special gift to help sustain Bread’s work during the critical first quarter of the year. Thank you for your ongoing support and involvement! New ‘1,000 Days’ Kit Bread for the World/Laura Elizabeth Pohl 1,000 DAYS The Issue & the Tools 1,000 Days: The Issue and the Tools 1 Are You Social Yet? Bread has produced a new, revamped kit for Women of Faith for the 1,000 Days Movement. The kit helps Bread members become champions for maternal and child nutrition in the 1,000 days from the beginning of a woman’s pregnancy through her child’s second birthday. The kit contains information on the issues and tools to take action, including tips on writing letters to the editor, educating your community, and visiting your member of Congress. Order a kit at www.bread.org/store. A great way to get started as a nutrition champion is to learn about House Resolution 254 at www.bread.org/hunger/maternal-child-nutrition/recognizingthe-importance-of.html. This resolution recognizes the importance of U.S. leadership in addressing maternal and child nutrition around the world. The bipartisan resolution has 53 co-sponsors, but it needs more, especially Republicans. Please call your representative (800-826-3688) and ask her/him to co-sponsor H. Res. 254. breadfortheworld www.fa
