INTRODUCTION
Jeremy Wilson is a Professor of the School of Criminal Justice at Michigan State University (MSU). He founded and
directed the Center for Anti-Counterfeiting and Product Protection and the Program on Police Consolidation and
Shared Services. Prior to joining MSU, Dr. Wilson was a Behavioral Scientist at the RAND Corporation, where he led the
development of the Center on Quality Policing and the Police Recruitment and Retention Clearinghouse. He has held a
wide variety of appointments and honorary titles at prestigious institutions around the world, and he has served as an
instructor for numerous law enforcement and brand protection training programs. Dr. Wilson has collaborated with
police agencies, communities, task forces, companies, associations and governments throughout the U.S. and the world
on many complex public safety problems, and he has led over $10M of projects sponsored by the U.S. Congress, various
units of the U.S. Departments of Justice and Interior, community and institutional foundations, local governments,
police departments, professional associations, and corporations. Among other areas, he has written extensively for
scholars and practitioners on brand protection, product counterfeiting, police staffing and personnel planning,
organizational consolidation, resource allocation, community policing, field interventions for violence prevention,
internal security, data and measurement, empirical modeling and evaluation. Dr. Wilson’s research and commentary
have been featured in numerous books, professional publications, academic journals, and Congressional and State
testimony, and in various forms of national and international media. He has recently received the O.W. Wilson Award
from the Police Section of the Academy of Criminal Justice Sciences, and he has received leadership, research, service
and supervisory awards by the American Society of Criminology, RAND, The Ohio State University, Indiana University,
Michigan State University, Johnson & Johnson, Underwriters Laboratories, and the City of Lansing. He received his Ph.D.
from The Ohio State University Glenn College of Public Affairs.

MODERATOR
Clifford A. Grammich is a Research Specialist at the Center for Anti-Counterfeiting and Product Protection at Michigan
State University. His research there has included projects on how firms organize for brand protection, tactics firms use in
pursuing brand protection, and how firms measure their performance in brand protection. He also serves as executive
editor of The Brand Protection Professional. a quarterly journal dedicated to reporting on brand protection issues,
research, and professional information for in-house brand protection practitioners. Other topics of his work have included
criminal justice, national security, and demographic issues. Before joining MSU, he was a research communications
analyst for the RAND Corporation. He has also served as president of the Association of Statisticians of American
Religious Bodies (ASARB) and as chairman of the ASARB's Religion Census committee, which conducts the only
county-level enumeration of religious bodies in the United States. He holds a doctorate in political science from the
University of Chicago.

Kevin Friker is the Global Security Director for Mars, Incorporated, one of the world’s largest
fast-moving-consumer-goods (FMCG) in the confectionary and petcare industries and the third largest privately held
company in the United States. With over 23 years of diverse corporate security experience, Kevin joined Mars in 2012,
assuming the position of CSO in 2015. In this capacity, Kevin leads a worldwide team positioned in Miami, London,
Moscow, Dubai and Hong Kong who provide security guidance and immediate response to threats against Mars
Associates, facilities or brands. Additionally, Kevin initiates and / or oversees internal investigations related to associate
misconduct, allegations of fraud or theft of company assets and provides direct security support to members of the Mars
family. Prior to joining Mars, Kevin was the Director of Global Security for Hyatt Hotels Corporation based at the
company’s corporate office in Chicago, IL. During his five year tenure at Hyatt, Kevin was responsible for promoting
physical, technical and operational security improvements throughout Hyatt's international hotel portfolio that included
over 100 properties in 45 countries, with a specific focus on anti-terrorism in high risk countries. Kevin was the co-author
of Hyatt Hotels’ Security Policy Manual, Security Operations and Standards Manuals that provide the framework for the
company’s Corporate Security program that guides local hotel security measures. Working as a Security Consultant for
New York-based Kroll Security Group prior to joining Hyatt, Kevin was responsible for delivering security consulting
services domestically and internationally to a wide range of clients including state and federal government agencies,
international air carrie rs, hospitality companies, as well as public and private businesses. At Kroll, Kevin also specialized
in designing security solutions for high net-worth individuals with personal security risks, a number of whom have been
named in the Forbes 400 annual list. Kevin previously held senior security roles at AT&T Wireless and Monsanto
Company. Kevin holds a BA degree from Michigan State University with a double-major in Humanities and Criminal
Justice and holds a MA degree in Corporate & Crisis Communications from DePaul University in Chicago. Kevin was
selected in August 2016 as a member of the A-CAPP Industry Advisory Board.
