James Kryskowiak is currently a patrol supervisor assigned to a special unit helping to improve the quality of life for the residents in South East Raleigh . James has made anti-counterfeiting a stable part of this assignment and the unit has seen much success investigating intellectual property crimes . James is a graduate of the Raleigh Police Department ' s Leadership Academy and has successfully completed the United States Marine Corps Sergeant ’ s Non-Resident Leadership Course . He is currently finishing a degree in Leadership from North Carolina State University . James has been a member of the North Carolinas Anti-Counterfeiting taskforce for 9 years and was one of the first members to be cross-credentialed . As a member of the task force James received the state ’ s “ Brand Protector ” award for his work in intellectual property investigations . As a trainer , James developed a two year community policing program which received praise from Dr . George Kelling and had a focus on intellectual property investigations . James also developed and teaches several online classes including his most popular , Intellectual Property Crimes Investigations . James published an article for the North Carolina Conference of District attorneys focused on how district attorneys can help strengthen intellectual property investigations . This article was followed up with an in-person training that included several brands ( UL , Merck , Western Digital , Monster and CREE ). James has a passion for investigating intellectual property cases and also for teaching others about intellectual property theft which he hopes to carry on beyond his law enforcement career .

Aaron Weiss currently serves as a Director in Western Union ’ s Financial Intelligence Unit ( FIU ), overseeing the FIU ’ s Strategic Intelligence program . That program combines advanced data analytics and world-class analytic tradecraft standards and methods to identify and evaluate emerging threats , transnational networks and other high risk criminal activity within Western Union ’ s global network . Aaron ’ s teams conduct complex investigations and all-source intelligence analysis of activity associated with the most significant criminal typologies including terrorism , drug trafficking , human trafficking and human smuggling . Prior to joining Western Union , Aaron served for five years in Intelligence Community as an Intelligence Analyst with the Department of Homeland Security ’ s Office of Intelligence and Analysis and Homeland Security Investigation ’ s ( HSI ) Office of Intelligence . There he supported HSI ’ s most significant financial crime investigations , primarily focusing on transnational criminal organizations and third party money launderers . Aaron holds a Masters in International Affairs from the University of California , San Diego and has completed DIA ’ s Defense Intelligence Strategic Analysis Program ( DISAP ), the Intelligence Community Advanced Analyst Program ( ICAAP ) and the Five Eyes-hosted National Strategic Intelligence Course ( NSIC ). Aaron received HSI ' s Directors Award in 2013 for his role in identifying and dismantling a Hezbollah-linked criminal syndicate operating between the United States and the Tri-Border area .

Brandon A . Sullivan is an Assistant Professor at the Michigan State University Center for Anti-Counterfeiting and Product Protection . He earned his PhD from the Michigan State University School of Criminal Justice in 2015 and his Bachelor and Master of Science from Bowling Green State University . In addition to his work with the A-CAPP Center , he serves a Research Associate with the Research Foundation of the City University of New York ( CUNY ), Research Affiliate with the National Consortium for the Study of Terrorism and Responses to Terrorism ( START ), and Faculty Affiliate with the MSU College of Law . He is Principal Investigator of the A-CAPP Center Product Counterfeiting Database ( PCD ) and co-Principal Investigator of the Extremist Crime Database ( ECDB ) Financial Crimes project . His research focuses primarily on emerging areas of crime and justice , particularly those involving transnational criminal enterprises and networks , including fraud , product counterfeiting , extremist financial crime , and environmental / conservation crime . Other research interests include organizational deviance , crime prevention , policing , law and society , and media and crime , as well as social network analysis and miexed methods research .
