LISA PHILLIPS | OVERCOMING THE STARVING ARTIST SYNDROME HACE MINI-SERIES by Cameron Smillie On Wednesday, January 14 Speaker Lisa Phillips brought us a fresh approach to being successful in the creative economy with her topic - Overcoming The Starving Artist Syndrome. Lisa talked about the fact that the time has come to stop listening to and believing the phrase...“You can’t make money in the arts!” She explored why society, family, friends and artists perpetuate this false statement. Those at the session got some answers to help boost their careers, and networking with other attendees was a nice bonus. Lisa is the author of The Artistic Edge: 7 Skills Children Need to Succeed in an Increasingly Right Brain World. From her website “This book explores why leadership skills taught through the arts are what young people need most to be successful in life.
