Masters in Clinical Dentistry Masters in Clinical Dentistry (MClinDent) Periodontology This programme will teach the latest periodontal theories and treatment protocols and how you can deliver them predictably to your patients. During the practical programme you will receive supervised clinical training in the surgical and non-surgical treatment of the periodontally compromised patient and the importance of an effective maintenance protocol. Masters in Clinical Dentistry (MClinDent) Oral Surgery The aim of this clinically orientated programme is to demystify oral surgery and develop your surgical abilities in areas such as bone grafting and endodontic surgery. The MClinDent programme will instil the knowledge required to perform surgical procedures competently. The full-time programme provides supervised clinical training and offers the opportunity to apply in practice the principles of diagnosis and treatment planning. Those students studying the full-time programme will receive one to one hands-on teaching and develop the required skills in minor oral surgery in clinical settings. Under close supervision students will provide treatment to their own patients starting from initial consultation and assessment through to surgery and management of post-operative complications. The programme follows the criteria of ‘Dentists with Special Interest’ in Oral Surgery. Masters in Clinical Dentistry (MClinDent) Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopaedics This MClinDent is aimed at professionals with an undergraduate degree in dentistry and at least one year in clinical practice, who intend to expand on existing knowledge and skills. The objective is to provide surgeons with the core knowledge and clinical skills essential for the delivery of competent, high-quality dental care in accordance with regulatory and Royal College guidelines. Additionally, it is to promote an understanding of the different requirements essential to the provision of ethical, predictable and evidence-based treatment. An important feature of the full-time programme is the supervised clinical training where students plan orthodontic cases and provide appliance therapy under appropriate supervision in the outreach centres.
