Visiting Bowland
The Forest of Bowland has been a destination for
Lancashire day trippers for many years. During the last
ten years or so it has become increasingly recognised
as a sustainable tourism destination.
When researching this scrapbook we talked to many
people who were visiting and taking advantage of local
amenities such as pubs, cafés, footpaths and places to
stay. Many of them have been coming since they were
children and are now bringing their own children and
grandchildren.
They tell us that the main attractions (apart from the
cakes!) are the scenery, the wildlife and the peace and
quiet.
