God, winning in life and changing the world. For a church that started with N3920, one member, two sympathisers and the two of us making five worshippers in a dingy room of a notorious brothel, I think we have come a long way. We have a strong leadership team and a committed membership spread across three locations in Lagos, Nigeria. We are actively advancing the kingdom through our publications, broadcast and various empowerment programmes. Our passion is to equip the people with God's Word and take the gospel to the nation's of the world. We are absolutely committed to that. Q. What should couples do more or less of in these challenging times to keep their love alive and marriage strong? Aity: Couples should study the word of God and pray together. They should talk, talk and talk with each other. When there is communication break down, things will definitely fall apart, it's a question of time. Couples should make time to have outings together and work towards helping each other to advance in their careers. What they should do less ? Stop comparing your spouse with others. Stop focussing on their weak points. Focus on their strength and praise them for every achievement recorded, no matter how small. Everyone is under pressure, so let living with you be a pleasure and relieve his or her pressure. You are not your spouse's examiner, so don't make him or her feel living with you is like writing an examination. Dennis: Again, I agree completely. But permit me to add that couples should renew their vows to each other regularly. It need not be a public affair. We lead our congregation to do that once a year. Couples should also be honest with each other. Many couples are not real. Admit where things are not working and commit to change. Be flexible and learn to defer to each other. Don't only love your spouse but say so. And couples should give each other freedom to be themselves and pursue their dreams. A man asked me one day how I am able to control my wife given her celebrity status. My answer must have surprised him: I don't "control" her. She is my wife, not my daughter or my slave. I must also say that no matter how civilised and digital society becomes, marriage will still work by the same old analogue rules: husband love your wife and wife submit to your husband in everything. I can't think of what they should do less but I know one thing they should not do. They should not quit the marriage no matter what. There is no problem in marriage that cannot be resolved if both husband and wife are equally committed to resolving it. If your relationship has gone sour, turn to God with a sincere heart ready to make things right and He will fix it for you.
